Movie trouble? help!?

alright, so me and this guy have been pretty good friends for a while. i see him about once a week, and we text and chat on facebook. well my friend was going to the movies with some of her friends. then it turned into her taking her boyfriend, the other friend taking her crush and i'm in the middle! (to be more than friends would be great, but i want to make sure he's into me first) i don't want it to feel like a date, but how should i change the atmosphere around US, while everyone else is making puppy eyes at each other? we go to the movies tomorrow and this is a tough question. thanks SO much!
